A Quick Girls Getaway
You and your girls all know it is time for a girls’ weekend, so what are you waiting for? Take a road trip to Prince William & Manassas and enjoy a full weekend of fun.
Start your morning with some R&R. Yoga on the lawn at Rippon lodge offers an affordable, relaxing experience with beautiful views of a historic property. After your early morning yoga sesh, take a tour of the historic home or head over to Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center for a cup of coffee and some shopping. This beautiful shopping center has great stores like Charming Charlie, an Apple Store, and DSW. You could even pick up some new yoga pants at REI since you have probably decided that you need to do yoga more often. Grab lunch at one of the great restaurants like Not Your Average Joe’s, P.F. Chang’s, or Travinia, then head back to your hotel to freshen up.
Next, you can choose between two of our top attractions. If you and your squad are into history, museums, and learning, then you need to visit the National Museum of the Marine Corps. This modern museum has interactive displays that will draw you in. You could spend all day there! If you would prefer to do more shopping instead, head to Potomac Mills Mall – the largest outlet mall in Virginia. Make sure to stop at IKEA right next door – it’s basically a furniture museum, and it’s the only one in Virginia.
Whether you chose to explore history through the eyes of the Marines of shop ‘til you drop, your next step is to visit one of the great, upscale restaurants in the area. With options like The Cheesecake Factory, Bobby Flay’s Burger Palace, Bahama Breeze, and Matchbox, you and your crew can have a very successful cheat day. It’s okay because you did yoga this morning.
Start your morning off right again with a walk through Prince William Forest Park, one of two National Parks in the area. With 15,000 acres of trees, you will be sure to find a great spot to take the perfect Instagram photos.
Freshen up, then head to the Town of Occoquan for the day. Here you will find unique, locally owned shops and restaurants. Stroll through the charming streets, grab a bite at one of the local restaurants, and buy some unique gifts at the shops. You should also make sure to stop at the visitor center to see if there are any events going on in the area.
If you have time for dinner, pair it with a glass of wine at The Bottle Stop. Don’t forget to pick up a pie from Mom’s Apple Pie for your significant other before heading home. After a taste of this pie, they will be begging you to go on another girls’ weekend soon!
For your next weekend getaway, consider visiting the City of Manassas for a foodie experience, the Winery at La Grange for some great wine, and Virginia Gateway for some great shopping. Also be sure to take a look at our events calendar for added reasons to visit!
