June Events Overview
Ah, June! The month of easy livin’, cold drinks, and outdoor concerts. There’s no shortage of events going on in Prince William & Manassas this month so you’ll want to click over to our event calendar to view everything that’s going on in the area. Below, we’ve listed a few notable events happening throughout the month for you. As you’ll see, June is shaping up to be an extremely fun month!
Lana Del Rey – June 11th
American singer-songwriter Lana Del Ray is set to bring her tour to Jiffy Lube Live in June. Rising to fame at the young age of 18, Del Ray has been on a tear recently with her second album ‘Born to Die’ reaching #2 on the Billboard 100. Her latest studio album reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, preempting a major North American tour. Often compared to 50’s and 60’s Americana, she describes herself as a “gangsta Nancy Sinatra.”
Rascal Flatts – June 13th
Known for their megahits such as “I’m Movin’ On” and “What Hurts The Most,” Rascal Flatts have evolved into country music veterans. Joined by Scotty McCreery, this concert will provide a fun-filled night of dancin’, hollerin’, and pure country music gold!
Potomac River Boat Blockade – June 13th
Spend your Saturday learning about the successful blockade of Washington DC by Confederate troops during the Civil War. Tickets for this event are $45 and include a picnic lunch at Leesylvania State Park and boat tour. Cruise along the Potomac River shoreline and view sites that were critical to the successful blockade in March of 1862.
Jimmy Buffett – June 20th
Fins up Parrotheads! Everyone’s favorite beach bum, Jimmy Buffett, is bring his band, the Coral Reefers, back to Jiffy Lube Live. Whether you are a loyal fan or a newcomer, Buffett’s shows are unique, energetic, and filled with party hits! This is the one concert this summer you do not want to miss!
11th Annual Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival – June 21st
Spend a gorgeous Father’s Day afternoon lounging on the Manassas Museum lawn listening to smooth jazz and drinking some delicious wine from award-winning Virginia wine artisans. If that sounds like a perfect Sunday then you do not want to miss the 11th Annual Manassas Wine & Jazz Festival.
Rosanne Cash – June 26th
The Hylton Performing Arts Center is set to welcome award winning singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash to the stage in Merchant Hall. Cash will perform songs from her recent three Grammy award-winning album as well as chart-topping hits from throughout her career. Her distinctive voice and rich sound that straddles country, folk, rock, blues, and American roots music is perfect to tell stories of heartbreak and healing through her poignant and passionate songs.
Luke Bryan – June 26th & 27th
There’s no country music artist that currently defines the genre better than Luke Bryan, who will grace the Jiffy Lube Live stage in consecutive nights this June. Bryan began his career writing songs for Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. However, in 2007 he released his debut album ‘I’ll Stay Me’ and he’s been on a tear ever since.
Music at the Marina – June 27th
Don’t miss the U.S. Navy’s premiere jazz ensemble, the Commodores, as the group performs America’s original music at Leesylvania State Park. Patrons can access this wonderful event for just $5 and are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic basket to enjoy during the concert.
Train – June 28th
From their early days hits like “Meet Virginia” and “Drops of Jupiter” to their most recent chart-toppers like “Hey Soul Sister”, Train brings their unique blend of pop-rock to the stage at Jiffy Lube Live. Joined on this tour by the beloved rock band The Fray and pop artist Matt Nathanson, this will be one star-studded show!
World Police & Fire Games – June 26th through July 4th
Coming to Fairfax for the first time in the games’ history, the World Police & Fire Games will feature performances from local and international first responders as they compete against one another in over 70 sports. Described as the Olympics for our daily heroes, Prince William & Manassas is hosting five events during the week and a half games. Click over to our event calendar for more information.
