A Day on the Water in Prince William & Manassas

A Day on the Water in Prince William & Manassas

From the Potomac River to Neabsco Creek, Prince William & Manassas is the perfect place to spend a day on the water. After all, isn’t that what summer is all about? Whether you want to spend a relaxing afternoon cruising down the river or paddling along historic towns, here are the best ways to spend your day on the water:

If you’re the proud owner of a boat, EZ Cruz Marina near Occoquan Bay is there to help. The full service marina offers slip rentals so you can enjoy a docked day right next to the charming small town of Occoquan. They also have 24/7 gas, mechanics, and other boat services to keep you safe and well cared for. After a sun soaked day on the water, you can explore local restaurants and unique shops with a waterfront view.

No boat? No problem! For a day of exploring the Occoquan River, take a tour with Rivershore Charters on their 50-foot pontoon boat. Each captain provides a history lesson as you sail past Occoquan and many other historic points of interest along the water, and in the summer you might even get a chance to see eagles, ospreys, and herons! The tour also takes you to favorite local eateries such as Electric Palm and Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant and Crab House.

Nicknamed ‘The Penguin’, local firefighter and paramedic Danny Barker started Penguin Paddling to share his love of the area through kayaking and paddleboard tours. Unlike normal water tours, sightseeing with Penguin Paddling allows access to places you wouldn’t normally be able to access along Occoquan River and the Neabsco Creek. With close proximity to protected wildlife habitats, paddle past eagles, ducks, ospreys, and beavers as you venture down some of Virginia’s greatest waterways. Rent a kayak or stand up paddleboard at the Waterfront of Madigan’s Restaurant or Hampton’s Landing Marina, or book a tour for a guided experience.

For a great day of fishing, Leesylvania State Park’s pier is a hot spot, and is located next to large picnic shelters and a family playground area. The Potomac River is an excellent largemouth bass fishery, and also has other fish such as perch, catfish, and striped bass. A convenient boat ramp can be used to launch your boat if you’d prefer to be on the water!

Don’t look any further for a day on the water! Prince William & Manassas is an ideal spot to spend your weekend soaking up some sun, taking in the waterfront scenery, and enjoying local flavors
