Why do you like to travel?

Travel gives me the chance to enjoy the beauty of the world, learn something new, and experience a different perspective, all at the same time. There is so much to see!

What were your favorite attractions?

I love to be outdoors and to hike, so I especially liked Prince William Forest Park and the Bull Run Mountain [Conservancy]. I had never been to the Marine Corps Museum before, and it was very impressive—very interesting and moving.

Is there an attraction that you didn’t see that you would like to come back for?

I made a trip to Leesylvania State Park, but would love to visit [again]. Historic Downtown Manassas would be fun to visit for a meal and a tour of the railroad station. I definitely want to visit the Marine Corps Museum when the new expansion opens.

Which attraction are you most likely to suggest to someone else?

The Manassas Battlefield, the Marine Corps Museum, and Prince William Forest Park.

What time of year do you think is best for visiting?

April – June for the wildflowers, cherry blossoms, and nice weather. September – early November for the foliage and cooler weather. July and August can be too hot and muggy, and winter months might be too cold.

What is a fun fact that you learned during your trip?

That the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) cabins in Prince William Forest Park are rented for role-play groups [in addition to other groups]. Would be pretty fun to run into a group of Vikings on a hike.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Even though I’ve lived in Fairfax County for 20 years, we visited several interesting and fun places that I had never seen before. I also learned new things in each of the places that I had been to previously. Nicole was absolutely fabulous to tour with and we look forward to future visits.
