There are five main trails within Leesylvania ranging from easy to moderate difficulty and less than half of a mile to a little over two miles. The wooded areas of Leesylvania State Park provide shade from the hot summer sun while the small beach provides some shock absorption for runners with overuse injuries. After your run through this beautiful, Virginia state park, enjoy a picnic at one of the tables or on the sand.
The Battlefield is relatively flat, which makes it a good place for an easy run in northern Virginia. There are two historic trails that are best for exploring the sites of the First and Second Battles of Manassas/Bull Run. There are also nine loop trails that are perfect for running or hiking. Enjoy some of the historic sites, and then go for a run to get the most out of the battlefield. Make sure to stop and smell the bluebells during your run. They bloom early in the spring!
Prince William Forest Park has a variety of trails from easy to difficult. With plenty of space, this is one of the most popular places to run in Northern Virginia. The 15,000 acres of trees provides ample shade during Virginia’s hot summer. Because the park is so large, it is difficult to crowd, which makes it a great escape from our hectic day to day lives.
