Things To Do This Summer

Grab a Fresh, Cold Beer or Sip on Some Sangria

Prince William & Manassas is home to five great breweries, and several more will be opening later this year. Take a look at our craft beer scene and plan your brew tour through the area. Looking for more than craft beer? The Winery at La Grange has some delicious sangria that is perfect for summer sipping.

Kick Back and Relax with Live Music

Experience the sounds of summer with live music throughout Prince William & Manassas! With the opening of River Mill Park in Occoquan comes the “Music on the Mill” summer concerts. The opening of the park has been long awaited; soon locals and visitors alike will be able to appreciate concerts and picnics in the brand new park. A couple of other low-key summer concert options include the Summer Sounds Concerts in Historic Downtown Manassas, Music at the Marina inside Leesylvania State Park, and Concerts on the Plaza at Virginia Gateway shopping center.

Looking for something a little more thrilling? Turn up the noise at Jiffy Lube Live. This outdoor concert venue hosts a number of popular artists ranging from Def Leppard to Josh Groban.

Find Your Park

The National Park Service is celebrating its 100th year of service this August. Make sure to get outside and find your park in Prince William & Manassas. With two National Parks: Prince William Forest Park and Manassas National Battlefield Park, our destination is a must visit during this historic year for the National Parks.

Be sure to explore the beauty of our state and local parks during your stay as well! Leesylvania State Park is frequently noted as a place to discover beautiful, hidden views and Locust Shade Park has a marina that offers paddle boats for a fun family outing or a romantic sunset experience.

Bring Your Children’s History Books to Life

One of the best reasons to visit Prince William & Manassas is to discover the history of the area. On July 23rd, Manassas National Battlefield Park will be commemorating the 155th anniversary of the First Battle of Manassas/Bull Run, which marked the start of the American Civil War on July 21, 1861. Later, on August 26-28, you can immerse yourself in history during Civil War Weekend at the Manassas Museum. This annual event is a great way to learn about life during the Civil War, see firearm demonstrations, and appreciate period attire.

Get a different perspective on history by seeing the world through the eyes of the Marines at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Every exhibit at this modern museum is made to be as authentic as possible. The figures featured in the exhibits are even cast molded from real Marines.

Soak up the Spirit of Summer

Spirit tasters can now enjoy a wider variety during their tasting when visiting distilleries. Visitors can now also enjoy the distilled spirits in carefully crafted mixed drinks, like the ones pictured to the right from KO Distilling. This is great news for the two distilleries in our area: MurLarkey Distilled Spirits and KO Distilling. Visit to enjoy craft spirits and delicious mixed drinks that scream summertime.

Get Out on the Water

Nothing says summer more than soaking up the sun out on the water. Avoid the crowded waterways and relax a little with a fishing expedition at Silver Lake Park. Looking for a little more action? Test your skills with kayaks and paddleboards in Historic Occoquan, a small town with beautiful water views and beautiful architecture. Be sure to take your phone for this Instagram-worthy town!
